Washington Wizards point guard John Wall had a tough night. The star was grieving the death of his friend, five-year-old Miyah Telemaque-Nelson. Young Miyah succumbed to a type of cancer called Burkitt’s lymphoma after a brave fight. She was diagnosed in October 2013.
The 24 year-old John Wall is a shy-natured fellow, but he makes sure to share the benefits of his celebrity. Earlier in March of this year, Wizards starter got wind of Miyah’s wish to meet Nicki Minaj and get one of her signature pink wigs. He put his network to work and made it happen, which was the start of the close relationship between Wall and Miyah’s family.
Following the Wizards 133-132 2OT win over the Boston Celtics, Wall stopped for a sideline interview. His grief overtook him, but not before he shared with the announcer what Miyah meant to him. He played an inspired game, no doubt to honor the life of his young friend. WATCH below:
